Pittsburgh Poetry Collective is an organization that provides a space for self-expression, identity exploration, & social justice via spoken word leagues, performances & community writing workshops. Although we are new, some of our programs have been around since the 1990. We welcome any opportunity for lyrical mayhem and believe that performance poetry heals, connects, articulates, and shares our experiences as well as our differences.
More specifically, we are the home of the Steel City Slam and Young Steel Slam. We also host workshops through our WordUp and WordPlay programs.
The Steel City Slam is the only PSI registered venue in Pittsburgh. We send a team to the National Poetry Slam each year and individual poets qualify to represent Pittsburgh at IWPS and WOWPS.
Young Steel is Pittsburgh's only youth poetry slam competition.
